5 ways to put our Vintage Stamp Effect for Photoshop (and Affinity!) to use

Our humble Vintage Stamp Texture effect…..it was our first crack at photoshop texture effects, and honestly, we're still totally in love with it!

It’s super versatile and gives you those realistic stamp textures you’re after. Plus, it's a breeze to use – add some texture and grit onto those flat vector shapes or illustrations in mere minutes. With 7 texture options to choose from, you can customise your designs just the way you intended.

There's a ton of cool ways to use this effect file and we've come up with 5 ways you can use it in your next project…. but honestly, you creative geniuses out there probably have a million more ideas up your sleeves!

If you do, please share your wins with us! We're always stoked to see how you push the boundaries with our tools.

1. Give simple illustrations the illusion of a stamp texture.

When you don’t have time up your sleeve to create custom stamps, scan them in and all that time consuming stuff, our Vintage Stamp Texture is the next best thing.

With a bit of tweaking and fine tuning, you’ll have an illustration that oozes that hand stamped look.

We’ve got a tutorial in the works showing how we’ve created this illustration below. Stay tuned!

2. Visualize that loyalty card!

We created this tutorial a while back which shows you how to use our Vintage Stamp Effect to create and animated stamped coffee card mockup.

We think the result is well worth the effort!

Check out the tutorial here on our YouTube channel.

Our design example showing our Embossed Business Card mockup used in conjuction with our Vintage Stamp texture effect to create the stamps. Full tutorial here on how we created this!

These two examples below, while not using our Vintage Stamp texture, illustrate perfectly how you can be a little clever and creative with a stamped loyalty card.

3. Customize blank packaging

Clients without a budget for custom packaging? Creating a custom stamp might be the perfect solution!

In this tutorial, after running our brand design through our Vintage Stamp Effect file, we show you how to add it on to a blank packaging image to visualize how stamp branded packaging might look.

4. Give a logo mark montage some texture and grit

To add an extra layer of depth and visual interest to that logo montage, consider applying a gritty, stamp-like texture. This technique can breathe life into the design by imparting a sense of tactility and aged character that contrasts with the clean, digital nature of the logos themselves.

Here we've created variations of logos for a fictitious surf apparel company and assembled them into a montage. We then applied a Vintage Stamp Effect to give the logo marks a distressed and weathered appearance. Full tutorial on this coming soon!

5. Bold type done gritty

Make a bold statement with weathered, distressed typography that adds character, depth, and a sense of rugged authenticity to your design.
